Kulture United are pleased to present ÒBlow
Up The SpotÓ, a group Exhibition of 6
emerging artists, the first of several collaborative arts events curated by
Damion Hayes of Cut kulture United at VAIN. ÒBlow Up The SpotÓ is a vibrant look
at Seattles contemporary urban arts scene featuring works by Nhon
Nguyen, George Estrada, Vittorio Costarelli, Zeta Brown, Drewad, Mark Atherton and Victor Pantet.
These artists all create adventurous work that breaks through cultural and stylistic boundaries with a respect for style in art, dance, and fashion. Nhon Nguyens dynamic
Paintings of break dancers are reminiscent of the masterful strokes of Sumi, beautiful
economy of brush strokes and use of color washes. George Estrada, Mark Atherton, and Vittorio Costarelli are internationally known graphic designers, having done work for Coca Cola,
Nike, Addidas, and Nestle, who are renowned for blending mid Twentieth century commercial art techniques with cross cultural aesthetics to create cut vinyl masterpieces.
With a nod to his Latin American heritage Zeta Brown creates assemblages that explore the evolution of traditional latin dance styles into current hip hop dances like Uprock/Downrock. Swiss born artist Victor Pantet explores the curious rhythms of the seasons and their effects on city of Seattle. Japanese Kaiju, 80Õs skateboard icons, and graffiti writing inspires Seattle sculptor Dave Ho to create 3 dimensional wall reliefÕs made from used skateboard fragments and other found materials.
ÒBlow Up The SpotÓ is the first in a series of art shows which will be curated by
Cut KultureÕs visual arts director Damion Hayes at the VAIN Salon gallery.
The series aims to create a dialogue between SeattleÕs arts patrons and the burgeoning
contemporary urban arts scene we have here. To ÒBlow Up The SpotÓ is to hit the target
